Mother and daughter duo, Teresa and Linda Jean head the team at Zia Teresa Restaurant. A true family run business, Teresa and her late husband founded the business in the mid 80's. Teresa's passion and determination for providing an authentic Italian experience for her guests has stood the test of time.

Teresa Bruno


Keeping true to her humble roots, Teresa prefers to be called a cook. Graduating from the school of "Mamma", Teresa's gift of culinery delights comes from growing up in her Mother's kitchen and extensive travels throughout her Mother land.  

Teresa hand picks local produce to bring her extended family of restaurant guests her tasty signature dishes.

Astonishingly, she is still personally cooking up a storm in her kitchen. She leads a talented team of chefs and assistants into perfecting her trademark "just like Nonna" style so that one day she can sit back and revel in the wonderful lifetime of achievements she has mastered. 


Luckily for East Brunswick, her stubburn Calabrian roots has endured her through the tough times. This single mother of three has established a Melbourne Instituton, become a successful business woman and managed to keep her signature dishes in demand well over 30 years to generations of loyal customers.

Literally born into the business, Zia's youngest daughter grew up in the restaurant where guests became her family.


The throwback to a more rustic interior aesthetic with copper pans adorning the feature wall and wooden wine shelf framing the main adjoining doors has been her tribute to the memories of her parents initial years when tables were hand crafted by her uncle and father and tablecloths sewn by her mother.


LJ now heads the front of house, hand picks the wine list to compliment her mother's dishes and co ordinates functions and events. 


Her personal Vegan and gluten free diet makes her knowledgable when it comes to special dietry requirenments and is only too happy to suggest alternative options to satisfy all guests needs.    


We are very proud of our kitchen and front of house crew. From our restaurant manager, to bar manager, Antipasto chef to kitchen hand we all work tirelessly to bring Zia's passion to life.  


If you are an exceptionally skilled cook, chef, barista/bartender with both coffee and wine knowledge, waiter, kitchen porter or all rounder with great experience, knowledge of Italian cuisine and beverages and most importantly a positive attitude we are interested in hearing from you. We are also interested in hearing from junior team members to assist during peak times.

Please DO NOT apply for waitering or barista positions if you are not exceptionally skilled with at least 3 years worth of experience, with at least one year of experience in an English speaking country.   

  • Applicants must have a minimum 3 years experience with a firm understanding and passion for food and wine. 

  • Strong skills in coffee making, cocktail and wine knowledge is essential for barista position.

  • Must have certificate RSA (Responsible serving of Alcohol). 

  • You must be able to speak English fluently with excellent communication skills. Italian is an advantage, (but not necessary) as most of our staff and customers are Italian. 

  • As part of service you are required to adapt to the Italian service and culture we provide all our customers with.
