FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

HOW MANY SIT DOWN CUSTOMERS CAN THE RESTAURANT SERVE for a function?

The entire restaurant can hold up to just over 80 guests for a sit down service.  It is split into two rooms with a third small seating room with fireplace to the rear of the bar room. All rooms are accessible through open folded doors. So they can be left open for a full house function or closed for smaller private functions. The main room itself holds 40-50 while the bar room holds up to 22. Both main rooms have separate entrances via Lygon st for you and your guests. The fireplace can hold up to 12 guests. 

 

DO I NEED TO HAVE A SET MENU FOR FUNCTIONS?

Yes. We require a set menu for any booking over 10 people on a Saturday night and 12 people on other evenings. This helps the kitchen and staff best cater to you and your guests. We have various set menus to suit various catering needs and budgets. 

 

WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF YOUR FUNCTION MENU?

On our website you will find a 'set menu choices' file which you can view in SPECIALS & EVENTS and under CUCINA section also. Simply choose the course options you would like for your function. Then choose dishes from our seasonal 'a la carte' menu. Once you have done this you will be ready to discuss the finer details with our function co-ordinator. We are happy to cater to specific needs and dietary requirements and these can all be discussed with your function coordinator.

 

DO YOU CATER FOR STAND UP COCKTAIL FUNCTIONS?

We have recently had an increased interest in private stand up cocktail events which have been a great success. We have held these functions in our bar room with by-folding doors that open up onto bustling BRUNSWICK EAST Lygon St. Minimum fee for stand up cocktail event is from $3000.

Cocktail food menu starts from $60pp. We cater a cocktail menu which is specific to you and your special event. Drinks are charged separately. 

 

WHAT ARE THE DRINK CHOICES AND PACKAGES FOR FUNCTIONS?

There are a few options from which you can choose from, but whatever the decision it must apply to the whole party. We apologise in advance, but we do not do half and half.

Unlimited drinks served for 3 hours starting from time of reservation.

We give table service, so please order through your waiter, unless otherwise organised. 

Spirits are not included

Price quoted is per person

All guests from event must take the same drinks package, sorry no adjustments to this. 

 

WHAT IS THE ASSAGGI PLATTER AND WHY IS IT SUGGESTED FOR LARGER BOOKINGS? 

 

The assaggi platters are a mix of 'little tastes' or antipasti chosen by our chef which typically include a selection of cold meats, cheese, olives and grilled veggies. We usually arrange this starting from $17 per person with the option of adding warm assaggi such as the arancini and calamari. We recommend this especially for larger tables and on busier nights such as Fridays and Saturday. 

On busy nights and with a number of people attending it may take a while for all guests to be seated, look through menu and then order. This can sometimes take up to half an hour or an hour depending on guests before any orders are being processed. We don't like to rush anyone, we have been in the business for over 30 years and still maintain the Italian custom and tradition that all meals should be leisurely enjoyed with great food, wine and friends and hence we do not double book larger tables or rush you and always wait until all are seated and comfortable before taking individuals order.

The benefits of pre-ordering the assaggi platter is that as soon as your individual mains have been ordered with your waiter the kitchen can bring out the starter assaggi for all to be enjoyed.
